Um voto para Obama
É com satisfação que eu também dou esse apoio a Obama. Não necessariamente como um superpresidente supersalvador “pã-pã-pã-pã, pã-pãããã!”, mas como alguém que mostra ter cacife para consertar ou aliviar muitas feridas que os EUA infligiram ao mundo. É alguém que mostrou e mostra ter muito mais poder e carisma do que John Kerry, o cara que tentou salvar o mundo de Bush quatro anos atrás mas não foi suficientemente cativante para conquistar áreas do que uma charge da época chamou de “Jesusland”, um pedaço enorme de lá que demonstrou uma ignorante simpatia pelo maior multiterrorista do mundo desta década. Aliás, o fraquinho da vez é McCain, que não consegue convencer o mundo de que um novo governo encabeçado pelo Partido Republicano, uma nova chance aos vermelhos, seria uma boa.
Quanto a suas propostas, não sei se ele realmente vai cumprir a maioria ao contrário do que acontece no Brasil dos candidatos mentirosos, mas fica a inevitável expectativa de que promessas cruciais como a execução do plano de encerramento da guerra do Iraque e a primeira fase do programa cheio de ambição “New Energy for America” sejam imprescindivelmente postas em prática. Chama a atenção também sua posição que o põe acima da escória de fanáticos religiosos antilaicos: desde a época do discurso “Call to Renewal”, ele tem atraído a simpatia de seguidores de diferentes crenças e descrenças por se mostrar como alguém que não suporta fanatismo, se preocupa para que a humanidade religiosa desfrute do lado positivo das crenças em vez do negativo e quer viver num país que, ainda que majoritariamente cristão, abrigue um comportamento de respeito às diferenças e à separação entre Estado e religião. Característica essa que atrai o voto simpático de ateus e agnósticos e o apoio sincero da maioria destes ao redor do mundo.
É certo sim, impossível negar, que desejávamos um Obama que planejasse consertar as perniciosidades mais centrais da “América”, como o superconsumismo, a dependência quase total de petróleo para energia elétrica e automotiva, a educação básica aleijada e a cultura predominantemente patridiota e altamente belicista. E é verdade também que, mesmo que ele propusesse de fato a construção de um novo comportamento americano, não haveria garantia nenhuma de que seu legado continuasse, visto que há as incertezas de se ele realmente vai governar como promete e qual será a atitude dos presidentes seguintes. Mas, mesmo que ele não represente esse tipo de mudança ideal, havemos de reconhecer que sua autoridade perante o mundo e seu país é muito mais amigável e benigna do que o que Bush, Sarah Palin, a “vela fraca” McCain e outros desmiolados deixam transparecer de si.
Barack, você pode não ser o Gandhi das Américas, um salvador incontestável, mas é digno de nossa confiança, como democrata liberal – no bom sentido político do termo – disposto a tornar seu país menos monstruoso perante o planeta e os povos. Desejo-lhe muito boa sorte e que o povo norte-americano te acolha bem nesta oportunidade de votar pelo começo de uma fase histórica de reparação dos erros cometidos pelos EUA. O mundo vota em você. Avante e MUDE!
A VOTE FOR OBAMA
It’s impossible not to talk about American elections anywhere in the world but isolated places, since Americans’ choice (unfortunately) is so decisive on the direction of certain global questions. On a clash that remembers so well a mythological final battle of good against evil, Barack Obama became the hope of most people in almost every nation around the world. Against a faint McCain who seems to have only two ways – to continue a significant part of the evil deeds started by George W. Bush or to be victimized by some killing plan conspired by people close to the shrew Sarah Palin for her to take over the power in little time –, the probably first African-American US president is the trump card of the dreams of this world for a less evil “America”.
I, with a great satisfaction, also give my support to Obama. Not necessarily believing in him as a superpresident, a supersavior “pan-pan-pan-pan, pan-paaannn!”, but as someone who shows himself as having enough morale to repair or relieve many of those wounds which USA inflicted on the world. He’s someone who has been showing to have much more power and charisma than John Kerry, the guy who tried to save the world from Bush four years ago but wasn’t engaging enough to conquer areas from where a cartoon of that time called “Jesusland”, an enormous piece of USA that demonstrated to have an ignorant sympathy for the greatest multiterrorist in the world on this decade. By the way, the weak man of this time is McCain, who isn’t being able to convince the world that a new Republican-Party-headed government, a new chance to the Red, would be nice.
About Obama’s purposes, I don’t know if he is really going to accomplish most of them unlike what happens in the Brazil of liar candidates, but the inevitable expectation for the so necessary execution of crucial promises, such as the start of the Iraq War ending plan and the first phase of the heavily ambitioning “New Energy for America” program, remains strongly with us. Another aspect of him also calls our attention: his position about religion, which puts him above every scum of religious fanatics. Since the time of his “Call to Renewal” speech, he has been attracting the sympathy of followers of many different beliefs and disbeliefs by showing himself as someone who can’t stand fanaticism, wishes the religious adherent portion of Humanity enjoys the positive side of beliefs instead of the negative and wants to live in a country that, though majorly Christian, holds a general behavior of respecting the differences and separation between state and religion. That feature of him attracts nice votes from atheists and agnostics and sincere support from most disbelievers worldwide.
It’s clear, impossible to negate, that we’d rather see an Obama who planned to repair the most central perniciousnesses of “America”, such as the overconsumerism, the almost total dependence of oil for electric and automotive energy, the lame basic education and the prevailing patridiot and highly warmongering culture. And it’s also true that, even if he did propose the establishment of a new American behavior, there wouldn’t be any warranty of continuity of his legacy, since there are uncertainties about if he will really govern as he promised and how will be the next presidents’ attitude. But, even if the doesn’t represent that kind of ideal change, we have to recognize his authority before the world and his country as much friendlier and more benign than that which Bush, Sarah Palin, the “faint candle” McCain and other brainless ones show as having.
Barack, you may not be the Gandhi of Americas, an incontestable savior, but you’re worth of our trust, as a liberal – on the good political meaning of this term – Democrat wishful to become your country less monstrous before the planet and the peoples. I wish you very good luck and the North-American people welcome you on this opportunity to vote for the beginning of a historical time of repairing the mistakes did by USA. The world votes you. Go forth and CHANGE!
